It really can vary a lot from bolt to bolt.
I usually use cotton thread, and if I want a bit of sheen, Mettler silk finish thread can provide it!Stacihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11183068716476005136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900320065722105446.post-30445687458062689152012-02-07T01:42:42.103-08:002012-02-07T01:42:42.103-08:00Sweet wee quilts - they will be muchly appreciated...Sweet wee quilts - they will be muchly appreciated I'm sure. Your FMQ is looking good, too!

I always do machine applique with Mettler cotton - the embroidery wt. which I think is 60, and I usually use the blanket stitch because the Viking machines do a double (actually 3 stitches along the side and 4 to the inside) in both directions and it looks so good. I think the Aurifil thread would do it nicely, too. I don't like polyester thread for much of anything, actually.Susan https://www.blogger.com/profile/09159163720029661287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900320065722105446.post-84730607298443793692012-02-06T20:01:43.200-08:002012-02-06T20:01:43.200-08:00Hi Linda!

Fortunately I learned that Kona actually labels their whites with something other than "white" (snow, bone, white, etc). That has really helped me out a few times!

On the sugar topic... sadly I have a mild allergy to sugar - terrible I know! I've even been to Jamaica and saw those towering sugar cane stalks. I use palm sugar, honey, maple syrup, and agave nectar instead.

Thanks for the giveaway ad!! Lots of traffic on it from you... When I worked at a fabric store it was amazing to see the difference between one dye lot and the next. On raw edge applique I use mostly cotton. I have a bunch of poly sulky thread and like it too, depending on what I am working on.Connie Kresin Campbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02522467890442085228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900320065722105446.post-86074537647161335062012-02-06T07:18:13.917-08:002012-02-06T07:18:13.917-08:00Your facts on sugar are so interesting...no wonder...Your facts on sugar are so interesting...no wonder so many of us crave our sweets! It could be my machine, but it seems too slippery to do buttonhole stitch with polyester on top and bottom. The polyester seems to cling better to the cotton.Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05835208971743967582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900320065722105446.post-49558021614671896472012-02-06T05:59:52.880-08:002012-02-06T05:59:52.880-08:00Nice work.Nice work.Quiet Quilterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14649975491230672109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900320065722105446.post-1380086615154711592012-02-06T04:54:35.343-08:002012-02-06T04:54:35.343-08:00Wonderful little quilts.
