Flowers For Wednesday

When the bold branches
Bid farewell to rainbow leaves -
Welcome wool sweaters.
~B. Cybrill

Do you ever have days when it seems like everything you try to do turns out wrong?  That's how my morning was yesterday.  Luckily, it straightened itself out somehow while I was taking my lunch break and the rest of the day went much better.  I can't tell you how many times I had to retype, retape, remeasure, or recut yesterday.  Sooooooo very frustrating.  But that's behind me now and I'm ready to move on.  Can you believe this is the last day of November?  Our Tule fog has arrived bringing gray days, dampness, and much cooler weather.  I finally feel like the holiday season is upon us.

===========================

LITTLE FACT OF THE DAY

Today, November 30, is National Stay At Home Because You're Well Day.  Staying home because you're sick is the worst. Sure you get to bow out of the daily grind, but you have to spend the day piled under blankets, surrounded by used tissues, watching game shows and feeling sorry for yourself. So today take the mild fever and nausea out of the equation. Call in sick to work and have a blast. (And just hope everyone in your office doesn't try to celebrate this holiday or your boss will be suspicious.)

HEXAGONS

Hooray it's Wednesday.  That can only mean one thing......it's One Flower Wednesday.  Trying to get into the Christmas spirit, I made two flowers this week for the holidays.......

We used to hang a fresh pine wreath on our front every Christmas so this flower is to remember that little tradition.

Who doesn't like a dancing Santa?  These jolly little guys look like they are having a lot of fun.
I'm not really happy with either of these flowers.  To me they look rather blah - or maybe it's just the mood I'm in.  I think next week will be non-holiday flowers.
For fun and beautiful flowers, Karen has provided a linky where you can check out all of the other hexi flowers out there in blogland.  Click HERE to visit.

TODAY'S GOAL

Today I need to find some cute 6" holiday squares.

FINAL THOUGHT

Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.

I'm a firm believer is taking an occasional "mental health" day. Because it's no fun to waste all your sick days by being sick!! Where do you find all your cute flower abric?

I think the flowers are adorable!!!! You're being too hard on yourself.

YES, I have had a lot of those days!!! Grrr. It's always good to go to bed and look forward to the next day after one of those.

I do hope that there are not too many staying home today. Yikes! It's a good idea though.

As usual your flowers are soooo cute! Sure wish I could have stayed at home today. But the next best thing is being alone in the office, which I am today, but not because they called off. LOL

Cute hexies. I see you're making hexies for each season. What are your plans for them, a quilt? Thanks for blogging about my giveaway and good luck.

I love being home when not sick... when I get to do stuff and enjoy the peace and quiet. Unfortunately, I've had too many real "sick days" this fall and will have to skip "National Stay At Home Because You're Well Day" this year... *lol*

Oh Linda, not plain at all, vibrant and cheery is how I would describe your flowers - you always seem to find the perfect fabric for fussy cutting. Hope today is a day of achievement with none or those "re's" rearing their ugly heads!

Stay home and stitch--sounds like a good plan to me! I used to sew a lot of clothing and always had to rip something out. It was frustrating but I don't think I ever completed a project without doing that! Wonderful quote about winter! ~Roberta

I love those little dancing Santas. Maybe the non-holiday ones will do the trick for you.

I should have told my husband to call into work today. He'll use any excuse he can get!

Oh, I don't think your flowers are blah at all, I think they are just darling. I look forward to seeing your flowers each week!
I had a day last week where I did nothing but drop things, large and small. Started early in the morning and lasted until I went to bed. I spent half the day bent over picking things up, or cleaning up. The worst part was I broke my good platter I use BIG turkeys. I was putting away clean dishes and managed to drop a 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup as I put it away, and of course it fell from about 2 feet above the platter and smashed it to bits. I hope it is a long time before I get another case of the drop-its!!~
