Is There A Mystery Today?

Weeds are nature's graffiti.
 ~Janice Maeditere

And don't you know that I have a lot of 'graffiti' in my garden!!  And, unfortunately, it really doesn't get cold enough here to kill those little buggers off either.  They will survive when the rest of the garden has long since gone into its winter hibernation.  Long live the weed - the only greenery in my garden for the winter!

PHOTO OF THE DAY

Rosemary.  No matter how I tried to photograph this little plant it never quite turned out.

Rosemary is one of those wonderful herbs that makes a beautiful ornamental plant as well as a welcome culinary seasoning. Its Latin name, Rosmarinus officinalis, means "dew of the sea" and rosemary is most closely associated with the cooking of the Mediterranean area. However you don't need perfect sunshine, sea mist or even a never ending summer to successfully grow rosemary. In fact, more rosemary plants suffer from too much attention than from too little.   How true that is!  This little plant was totally ignored this year except of watering and it has thrived!!

Are you up for a little mystery?  I made block 5 in the Designer Mystery BOM from The Fat Quarter Shop.  Here we go!  See if you can guess what it is before the final shot..................

Here is the selection of fabric for this block - bright and cheery just like the previous blocks.............

First came the cutting......easy enough....................

First sewing involved making 8 HST.............................

Those HST were turned into these colorful pinwheels....................

Next I had to snowball the corners.  Any guesses yet?.................

Add a side to each block.......................

And a second side to each...........I bet you know what it will be!...........

Peppermint Pinwheels!!  Mystery solved.  Did you guess correctly?  Another block completed.  I am now all caught up and should receive the next mystery block some time next week.

FINAL THOUGHT

The closer we get to the holidays, the faster time seems to disappear.  I'm not sure where yesterday went.  I thought I was spending it wisely but seemed to have gotten little accomplished.  There are days where everything falls into place, most things get done and I am satisfied at the end of the day.  And then there are days like yesterday - a block made here, a recipe found there, grocery shopping done, and then the day was gone.  I guess it's time to organize my life, get some order to the chaos, use every minute available to me.  But then maybe not, some days are just made to be wasted, not much done but fun while it lasted.

The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.

Today is Thursday and I use every minute of it (well, at least most of them)!!

First good morning laugh and Abe's was the second.

Love these and your blog Linda.

Did not guess they were Peppermint Wheels; they look great. Sometimes chaos is just what we need and, like you said, a day spent doing nothing can be fun too. Enjoy your day.

It sounds like you got quite a bit done! Sometimes I wish I didn't work so I could get more stuffs done though the week, but I know that's not gonna happen. Anyway, I never thought about potting rosemary. We had a bush but the dogs pulverized it.
