More Than One Mystery

For disappearing acts, it's hard to beat what happens to the eight hours supposedly left after eight of sleep and eight of work.
 ~Doug Larson

I can't believe it's Friday already!!  Wait - I haven't completed everything yet.  The days are flying by - I have to stop and really think about what day it is.  And then I figure out I have even fewer days left before Christmas than I thought.  An occasional look out the window lets me know that it is not evening yet, not time to prepare dinner or feed the dogs.  Good, that means still time to be productive.  Once I'm done with dinner, I'm pretty much done for the day.  How about you - when are your most productive hours?

PHOTO OF THE DAY

Three French Hens

The three French Hens probably refer to a variety of chicken from France. There are many varieties of chicken and in the period during which this carol developed there were three main varieties of chickens associated with France.  The fact that they referred to a French rather than an English variety of chicken may be an indication that the carol originated in France or the words French Hens may have just had a good sound.  Unlike some of the other birds in the song, chickens, being domesticated, would be readily available for an evening's feast. While game birds, like the partridge, would only be available on the menu if the day's hunt had been successful.  Hooray for the chicken!!

I believe it's time for another Designer Mystery BOM.  This is block six from the series offered by the Fat Quarter Shop.

This is the first block created.  I bet you could venture a guess but I think it's a bit early yet.

Here are the next three blocks.  Not much help are they.

A couple red and white blocks - perfect for something Christmassy

A simple block but still not much of clue......

Some assembly - and could that be a tree forming?

Ta-da!!!  Here is the finished block - "Hung By The Fire".  Did you guess what it was going to be before this last picture?  Did you notice that I did some fussy cutting on the top and bottom branches of the tree?
This was a fun block to make and is certainly a great addition to the other blocks already made.  Now I'm ready for the next BOM block to arrive next week!

I'M EMBARRASSED!
I have been in quandary for the last few days.  The other day in the mail I received an envelope from ? that contained 6 pieces of fabric that I won in a giveaway.  Now I always keep emails that inform me of winning something.  But this time, no matter how many times I check through my emails, I can't figure out who this came from.  There is a note that came with it but the only letter I can make out of the signature is E.  The return address on the outside of the envelope is no help as it only has an E and the last name starts with We...

I feel so bad..... I really would like to thank the sender/giveaway host.  Maybe one of  you fine people out in blogland can give me some help here.  I hate not being able to acknowledge this person for the wonderful fabrics that I received.  HELP PLEASE ME SOLVE THIS MYSTERY!!

FINAL THOUGHT

Sometimes, no matter how hard I try, I manage to hurt feelings and bruise egos.  I try my best to always be fair, to be gentle with my words, and to give praise where warranted.  And some days I just beat my head against the wall because it seems that everything I do or say is wrong.  I know it's probably just me being over sensitive....but I just hate it when someone is mad at me or thinks I don't care or thinks that I have slighted them.  But then I remember, I can only do what I can, be who I am, and keep on living my life as I see fit.  So on with the holidays, happiness, and good cheer.  I will try to keep the Grinch behind the door and out of my emotions.

Life's not always fair.  Sometimes you can get a splinter even sliding down a rainbow.

I hope you have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Hi Linda,
My day starts super early and I'm so glad your posts appear early as well so I can read them with my morning coffee. I enjoy seeing your Christmas BOM as you go as well as the other various blocks you share. Sorry I can't help with your mystery fabric. Hope you have a nice weekend. My son, who can't be here for Christmas is coming to visit this weekend instead, so yay!

I love your blog. I love the quotes & the tidbits of information. But most of all I love how you are YOU - sharing your thoughts & feelings so honestly.

Funny how people's rhythms are different. My most productive sewing time is after dinner. I get going around 7 pm & need to make myself stop so I get to bed by 11.

We received 6 inches of snow yesterday so everything is white & pretty & Christmasy. Have a great weekend.

My most productive time of the day seems to vary. Lately it is in the afternoon. Especially if I can make dinner in the crock pot.

Love your stocking block!

Lovely fabrics, but I don't know who sent them to you. I love the Christmas BOM. The fussy cut really adds to the tree--so cute. I love your blog. Don't feel too bad. I learned a long time ago---you can't make everyone happy. It's funny what some people get wound up about. You are such a interesting and generous blogger. Hugs!

Today, I pray you have the opportunity to slow down, rest your body and soul, make peace with your heart about your worries...and then that you let them go...
Linda, your compassion is so evident, and that my friend does not come from someone with a mean spirit.
Take some time for yourself today and enjoy it! Lord knows you give so much to others! :) You are loved. Hang in there!

I was wrong on guessing the block...again. I saw the tree but it didn't help me any.
I am most curious about your package! Here is what I am thinking...when you find out for sure you will knock yourself in the head and say "OF course"
