Strangers are just friends waiting to happen.
~Rod McKuen
I am amazed at how many friends I have made in such a short time in blogland. I never imagined that from August 2, 2010 until now that I would have 400+ followers of my blog! I have met some (only through our internet connections) who I now consider good friends - we visit each other's blogs daily and usually leave a comment along the way. I have had so much fun reading all about all of you, seeing what you are making, and learning what is happening in your lives. I have cried with you, laughed with you, and prayed with you. I have tried to help make a difference in this crazy world of ours by participating in charities with you. I have gone on your trips with you and sat in your sewing room listening to your stories. You all have enriched my life more than you will ever know. Thank you all for becoming my friend and putting up with my usually not so humble words. I appreciate each and every one of you. And, remember, you are a stranger only once!

PHOTO OF THE DAY
My Christmas PEZ gift
Ever since I can remember, I have liked PEZ candy. Back when I was young we had very simple dispensers, not all of these cute little characters that are available now. "PEZ" is derived from the German word for peppermint. It was formed using the first, middle and last letter of the word, PheffErminZ. Haas used peppermint oil to make his PEZ creation. PEZ candy was invented in 1927 in Vienna, Austria, by Edward Haas III. Since its inception, the candy and dispenser have transitioned from an adult breath mint to a much-loved candy by children and adult collectors alike. More than three billion PEZ candies are consumed annually in the United States alone. PEZ and PEZ dispensers are available in over 60 countries around the world.
When Haas invented the PEZ candy, he did so as an alternative for smoking. Originally, PEZ were brick-shaped candies, packaged in pocket-size tins. In 1947, an employee of PEZ Candy named Oskar Uxa designed a dispenser that resembled a cigarette lighter. The new design also functioned in such a way that it could have one-hand operation, with an automatic stop to prevent the candy from falling out. In 1948, the current design of the dispenser was created. After extensive research in 1952, Haas decided to move the focus of the candy toward children and started placing character heads on the dispenser.
This was probably a bit more than you wanted to know about PEZ but I found it rather fascinating.

FEBRUARY SNOWMAN
I wasn't able to get much sewing in yesterday as I had quite a bit of computer work to take care of. Don't you just hate it when necessities get in the way of your crafting?

This is a six inch square I'm making for a table stand that I have. I took the design from a pattern called Redwork Snowman Quilt by Wellington House Designs. Obviously I'm not making it in just redwork. In the future, I think I will add extra fabric to the sides to make it easier to hoop. I can always trim away the extra. I have added a featherweight Pellon to the back to see if it hides the thread ends. I didn't do this on the Birdie Stitches BOM for January. This way I can find out which way I like better - backed or not backed.

MORE BEE BLOCKS
The mailman arrived with happy envelopes again today. Three to be exact.
This beautiful block was made by Carolyn, The Veggie Hunter. It has an amazing amount of tiny 1" blocks in it. It is a very striking block! Thank you, Carolyn.
This wonderful block was made by Anna, The Renegade Quilter. The picture doesn't do it justice as it is a very pretty block. I love the design. Thank you, Anna!
This awesome block was made by Melinda, Melinda Quilts Etc. It is the first hand stitched block I have received. I love the hexie flower! Thank you, Melinda!

I usually don't plug shops or stores unless it's while talking about different fabrics I have used in a project. However, today is different. I would like to announce that my friend, Leona, has opened her very own etsy store Leona's Quilting Adventure. I'm sure that many of you are already following her blog so you know what a talented lady she is. Now her shop doesn't have a lot in it yet but keep checking back as she will be adding more very soon! Stop by her store to help her celebrate and tell her I sent you!!

FINAL THOUGHT
Our weekend is already planned out. Family dinner Friday night. Visiting a quilt show on Saturday. Sunday is wash day and catching up with what we didn't do on Saturday. I'm already tired think about it. It will be fun but not particularly restful. And that is how our next couple of weekends will be. Who said things slow down after the holidays doesn't live at my house. One weekend was all we were given to rest and relax. I think we have another free weekend some time the middle of next month. What are your plans for the weekend?
Weekends are a bit like rainbows; they look good from a distance but disappear when you get up close to them.

Loved the information about PEZ! I have bought many of those for stocking stuffers for grandkids. One of my favorite candies when I was a kid was the paper strip with little dots of candy on it - I don't remember what it was called, maybe button candy. It used to be a penny each. We had a great penny candy store near us!
My favorite candy was a Sugar Daddy...they would last so long and stick your teeth together!!
One of my favourite sweets as a child were the sherbert UFOs
karen s
twannywun at hotmail dot com
My favorite candy was probably the little Hershey Miniatures - my grandmother kept a little box of them and we only got one for very special occasions!
Giggle.. this is so silly. We didn't have much money when we were kids.. so we wanted something that would last, and was cheap. We would always get those wax soda bottles. Like wax lips, but they had liquid inside them. Then you could chew the wax like it was gum.. for hours.. So silly now cuz who would chew wax for hours?? right. We did.
I posted about your giveaway on my blog over at http://runtomomma.blogspot.com/2011/01/fabulous-fabric-giveaway.html
I hope it brings you more followers.. but that I will still win ;)
Like mommarock we didn't have a lot of money so I always liked to have jawbreakers because they would last so long.
Very cute Pez. My sister in law is a collector so every Birthday or Christmas present usually includes a Pez.
Lovely fabrics!!! My favorite candy when I was a child was a Pay Day bar. I would pick the peanuts off and eat them one by one and then eat the yummy middle.
Happy Stitching!!!

Well tonight (here in Australia)I stitched in FNSI.The rest of the weekend...???.
Favourite candy (or lolly) as a child was a cherry ripe.. and still is one of them now. Enjoy your weekend and ThAnKs for a chance to WiN! :)
I'm going to Road to California too on Saturday! The family has been prepared for two weeks now for me to be gone the entire day. On Sunday I have a soccer game so looking forward to a great weekend. :)
M&M's!
I blogged about your giveaway at: http://quiltyascharged.blogspot.com/2011/01/giveaway-at-stray-stitches.html
Congratulations on the 400+ followers. I feel honored to be one of the 400+. Love reading your blog and have gained great inspiration and many, many helpful hints. Keep up the good work!
Favorite childhood candy - M&Ms, for some off the wall reason preferred the red ones!
Happy Quilting!
We had a worksheet in German class in highschool on Pez (because Frau Saunders was THAT awesome). MY favorite childhood candy would have to be Peeps. The Easter chicks, specifically, since they have now bred peeps for all occasions. Mmm, pure sugar! I still buy them, and open them immediately so they'll get just a teensy bit stale! Love your snowman. And thank you for thanking us in such a delightful way!
Favorite candy as a child and now has got to be ribbon candy. I got two packages for Christmas and it had to be one of my favorite gifts!
I loved Twizzlers so much when I was a kid. I loved biting the ends off and drinking Pepsi through the Twizzler!
babyfickas at gmail dot com
Enjoyed reading your post Linda.
Lovley blocks. Nice colours.
Tonight I am also sewing in the FNSI. Tomorrow I am going to help clean up our Patch room before our fist meeting.
Favorite lolly (candy) a Choo Choo Bar.
Congrats on the 400+ followers. No surprise, your blog is one of the most interesting blogs around. So much variety and you're such a friendly, inviting person. Thanks for making my blogging experience fun and making me feel at home here.
Today, my favorite part was about the PEZ...quite interesting.
It's so hard to narrow down my favorite candy...I was a candyholic! But I'd have to say m&m's.
Birthday weekend for me, celebrating with dinner out with my family. Otherwise staying in and quilting!!
Orange slices!!!!! I could eat the whole bag but Mom would hide it to save as a special treat. I did find the bag a few times though & got a belly ache after eating too many at once!
I don't think I've ever eaten PEZ but that was really interesting reading about it. Thanks.
Never heard of PEZ before don't think we had it in the UK. Dolly mixtures....still like them today...little tiny sweeties and jellys ...mmm yummy. I am already a follower.
When I was real young it was Sugar Daddies. When I was a little older (9 or so), I loved me some Mars candy bars. (You don't see those much anymore....such a shame too!)
Congrats on your 400+ followers :) thanks for the chance!
I think my favorites were cotton candy & meringue (kisses).
Congrat on 400 follower! The info on Pez was interesting. My favorite candy was the raspberry hard candies with the soft center. Dont know the name of them. My grandmother always had them!
Butler83ataoldotcom
My favorite candy was/is shoestring licorice, they used to be really long, and I would tie them into knots and eat them.
Congrats on the 400 followers. You rock!!
I'm not surprised you have 400 followers. Your blog has something for everyone. I'm always interested to find out what new thing I'll learn today. One of my favorite candies was Sweet Tarts.
New follower (hi!) one of mine was and will always be Resse's Cups (evil little candies!)
disintegratingstarr@hotmail.com
Does anyone remember those little peanutbutter logs? They were penny candies. Oh, how I loved them!
What a generous giveaway! Wow I am not sure what my favorite candy was. I guess I used to like the lollipops that had the bubble gum in the middle. Grape was my favorite flavor ;-)
Red licorce was and still is my favorite. But only if it's fresh!!
My favorite childhood candy was Hershey's chocolate kisses. Now I go for Hershey's special dark chocolate.
An Almond Joy or Mounds candy bars were my most favorite. More than likely because they both came with two bars to each pkg.
Greedy is as greedy does :^)
Sticky Hugs,
Gerry
I enjoy following your blog! My favorite candy as a child (and still is) would have to be Reese Peanut Butter Cups!
My favorite childhood candy was a little roll of black Liquorice the grocer would put in my mom's weekly single box of groceries. It was the only candy we got, living on a farm where we grew our own veggies, fruits, etc and everything was homemade.
My favorite has to be Now and Laters. They were just so much fun!
I loved smarties, but not the American kind, the Canadian kind. They were more like M & M's but they had purple ones :)
I posted your give away at my sidebar! Thank you for the chance!
Pez...of course. My favorite. I have a collection of pez dispensers. The stuffed head ones are even more fun.
My favorite candy as a child was tootsie rolls.
I have used the fusible pellon on the back of my redwork and I think it helps hide the thread ends. Seems easy to stitch through also.
We don't have PEZ candies here, definitely it would make a hit with me, because I love the extra stuff the items give for merchandising, the penguin you're showing us, it's sooooooooooooooooo cute, I love him!!!!.
Well, my fave candy has to be the handmade candy a lady used to sell when I was in the school, it was a ball full of sweet coconut, the bag had 4 balls of this piece of heaven, desafortunately she passed away while I still was in the school and no-one in her family cared to follow the bussiness :(
MacIntosh Toffee, came in a slab in a box. Oh, thanks for the sweet memory. I am a follower.
ANYTHING Reese's was (and still is) my favorite candy. Congrats on 400 followers! :)
Congratulations on reaching the Fabulous Four Hundred!!
My favorite candy as a kid? Hmmm... I'll go with the first thing that came to mind: Abba Zabba!
Would you believe that I have a box of old PEZ dispensers? They have always fascinated me although I did not like the candies. My favorite was a LOOK bar. I remember putting one in my pocket when I went to camp and the chocolate melted all over my clothes before I got there.
Pretty blocks...I love the colors.
My 16 yr old son who had autism has always loved PEZ dispensers. He has about 120+ different ones but we can't really call it a collection because he plays with them all the time and some are broken. He has even modified a bunch of them so he can interchange the heads on different bodies. Pretty funny.
I used to and still do love Sixlets!
My favorite was and still is peanut brittle. I can't walk past without buying them..and now I have a DIL who makes Such Good PB!
Thanks for the chance..I posted about the giveaway at:
http://onemorequilt.blogspot.com/2011/01/stray-stitches-giveaway-400-followers.html
My favorite candy was a Hershey's chocolate bar.
My favorite was always M&Ms!
I posted about your blog and giveaway on my blog at salliessampler.blogspot.com
This is soooo neat! My favorite candy were those long straws filled with sweet candy powder.
Starburst! And I still love it. Yummy Chewy Sweet goodness :D
I always like the candy on the elastic bands...you know the bracelets and necklaces? Grosses me out now, but I always had to have one if I saw it at the store as a child.
Thanks
Marilyn
marilynjw1971 (at) gmail (dot) com
I thought your PEZ info was interesting especially as I didn't realise they'd been around so long. My favourite candy was cobbers and I'm sure they were bigger then than they are now. We used to put them in the fridge and you could suck them for twice as long before the toffee was gone.
What a lovely giveaway. Congrats on 400 followers! Wow! My favorite candy was M&Ms. I still love them!
I think I liked anything chocolate, but when my father brought Pez with accessories from Germany, it was fantastic. Our local library occasionally displays a Pez collection akin to a Lego collection with all the characters.
Blogged. http://howdyadothat.blogspot.com/
My favorite candy was Starburst! (and still is :))
My favourite childhood sweets were flying saucers! they were circles of rice paper filled with sherbert. You could either bite into them or just hold them in your mouth until the rice paper dissolved and the sherbert flooded out!!!!"
My favorite candy as a child was reeces pieces. I don't know why, but I am not too fond of them these days. I LOVE peanut butter but would rather an M&M over reeces pieces. I DO LOVE reeces pieces in cookies though.
Congratulations on hitting 400 followers in such a short time! My favourite childhood candy (and still is) was spearmint leaves. My favourite memory was visiting my grandparents, and the first thing my grandpa would do was walk us kids to the penny candy store!
Thanks for the generous giveaway, I just signed up to be a follower and look forward to catching up on your blog.
Wahoo!!!! 400+ new blogfollower friends is a milestone for sure!!!
My favourite childhood candy was "gold nuggets" from the campsite store on family trips. The candy was little gold nuggets of gum in a tiny canvas bag and I just thought that was so cute!!!
Wish I could come to the quilt show and spend the afternoon with you!!!
What you said about blogging and new friends at the top of your post is so true. Thank you for putting it into such great words. My favotie candy as a kids was 100 Grand. I love caramel! Now my favorite is Rolo, yup more caramel.
I blogged about your give away. Thank you for the fun info on PEZ candy. I just loved to eat the candy. I still do. It is fun to introduce it to my nieces of nephews.
I just blogged about your giveaway:
http://zzyzx-and-sue.blogspot.com/2011/01/stray-stitches-giveaway.html
Good 'n Plenty!
My favorite candy was the candy necklaces, you could nibble and look pretty. They could leave your neck a little sticky. The fabric is really beautiful, thanks for the chance. I am a follower
I have a pretty big PEZ collection - though it's been culled by my children over the years. I've always loved them too, but I think my childhood favorite was Necco wafers.
Thanks!!
Linda, my daughter has a Pez collection and she will enjoy reading your history information on Pez. When I was young I lived in the country, not close to a store with candy. But when I had the chance, my favorite was the thin wafer candies, wrapped in a cylinder (like a roll of quarters!) and I still like them.
Your giveaway fabrics are beautiful and so generous, tho you can take my comment out if you'd like.
I'm a follower and I also receive your blog in Google Reader--thanks for sharing with your readers.

Congratulations on 400 plus followers, I am now one of the lucky ones...
Favorite candy as a child
Loved the Cello Chocolate Covered Cherries, but I only got one now and then, they just cost to much, so everyday would be the Swedish fish penny candy and if I had a nickle it would be a Hershey Almond bar or Turkish Taffy
ladycolmn(at)aol(dot)com
Oh, MY!! Reading these comments brought back so many memories, and some favorite candies that I forgot about. I'm like several on here. We were rather poor growing up too, didn't have much candy in the house, especially NOT chocolate it was too expensive. But I loved sweets so much that my dad's nickname for me was SweetTooth. Every once in a great while Mom would let me buy a piece or two of candy in the store. I think Sugar Daddy's were my favorite to buy because they would last so long.
Congratulations on 400 followers! I know your blog is one of my favorites!
Thanks!

I'd love to enter your wonderful giveaway - my favorite candy was the Zagnut bar :)
Thanks!

You are a delight to read each day!
M&Ms have been my weakness since I was a child. My Easter Basket was always filled with M&Ms...grin. Then I started eating them by the pound bags, and then you know what happened. I went from skinny Billie to Big Momma LOL.....darn! Now I wants some M&Ms.
So many to choose from - but I loved Sugar Babies....not as hard to chew as Sugar Daddies and even more caramel flavor!
Maria
I blogged about your post and giveaway on my blog....Thank you for the chance to win your great fabric!

Loved your blog today - well do all of them! Enjoy the quilt show and conference. Oh, dear - one? Hard as my grandparents ran a pennie candy counter at their pharmacy - with the old fashion soda shope w/ those great little booths. Oh memories. Well candy - I love and still look for the rock candy on the cute wooden skewers.
Hi Linda, I don't know what to say about the fabric you are giving away except it is so gorgeous it takes my breath away *sigh*. Okay, favorite childhood candy is easy...they were called Choclettos and they were chocolate caramels with chopped walnuts in them. They came in a pack of about 10 wrapped candies (about the size of todays Starburst). OH MY GOSH they were so good. You can still buy Walnettos at Cracker Barrel but they told me they no longer make the Choclettos. Just too sad. Hugs to you Linda, thanks for a chance to have this wonderful quilting treasure and GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!
love reading your blog, especially today. ;-) I used to love the Sherbet Fizz in the paper packet. The plastic spoon usually had a ring on the end that you could break off and wear - maybe that is what started my love of jewellery ;-)
thanks for the opportunity to win, that material is just gorgeous ;-)
My favourite candy was MacIntosh toffee. I stopped eating it years ago because I figured I would pull one of my teeth out chomping on it one day (I was never a sucker, I was a chewer). I wonder if I would still love it as much. I still prefer caramel/butterscotch over chocolate.
My favorite candy when I was young was a B-B Bat. Remember those? It was like taffy on a stick. I even liked them as I got older. I was probably about 20 years old, and was filling in for the receptionist at the law firm I worked, when the phone rang, I moved the B-B Bat to the left side of my mouth, answered the phone, transferred the call, and the B-B Bat had stuck to my teeth. I pulled on it to get it unstuck, and pull my filling out of my tooth. That was 37 years ago, and I can remember it like it was yesterday. All I could taste was that weird taste you get when the dentist is filling a tooth. Yuck! dmj53(at)hotmail(dot)com
Congratulations on 400 followers! I agree with you Linda about making lots of friends through blogland. I always enjoy reading your posts and I also learn a lot about all sorts of things, like today's post on PEZ. In Australia we call candy "lollies". I loved jelly babies or snakes when I was a child!
Do I have to pick just one favorite candy? One that stands out is Nerds. I loved those sweet, tangy, tiny bits of candy goodness as a child... I still do.
I have to pick one???
Candy dots. I am not sure why. You eat paper when you eat them. LOL
I never knew all that about Pez candy! Thanks for sharing.
My favorite childhood candy were those squares by Brach's that had a stripe of coconut, a stripe of caramel, a stripe of chocolate, and a stripe of pink stuff. My grandpa used to always sneak those to me in church - that's probably why they are my favorite. We must have made quite a racket opening the cellophane wrappers - bet everybody knew what was going on!
Thanks for the chance to win these lovelies! My favorite candy growing up was the Soda Caps. They were like sweet tarts but shaped like soda caps and flavored like soda. I also loved the taffy that was named after the Scooby Do gang, especially vanilla Veronica! Thanks for bringing back the memories!
Sandy A
Hello Linda. Congratulations on getting to 400 followers.
I have blogged about your Giveaway here:
http://stitching-stars.blogspot.com/2011/01/balaclava-helmet.html
Please enter me in the draw. Thanks.
Thanks for the wonderful giveaway. My favorite candy was Necco Wafers and thank goodness I can still get them.
My favorite candy were paper dots.
As a child I don't think I had a favorite, I just LOVED candy. As an adult I am a bit more discerning though and I have a particular fondness for Runts candy (think little bananas) I'm odd in that I will pull out all the green ones and either throw them away or give them away then eat them according to color. My favorites are the grape, cherry and strawberry ones. :)
I have your give away listed on my side bar.
http://lifeviaserendipity.blogspot.com/
Oh, hard choice. Toss up between Pixie Stix and Smarties, I think, though I certainly ate at least a ton of PEZ! I loved your information, not too much at all. I never knew all that! I also love your snowman. I don't do pellon, maybe that's a good answer to the thread problem, but on some embroideries, I do use a thin cotton batting scrap left over from something else. I like the way the stitching pops up a bit with it, and it does hide the threads. BTW, the fabrics are beautiful!

Congratulations on 400 followers would love to win your giveaway.
Darrel Lea is an Australian family chocolate company in the southern suburbs of Sydney. As a kid growing up they were the ultimate Christmas, Easter or birthday gift. I loved and still do there specialty Christmas collection - nougats, chocolates, fruit jellies.
I'm with Christine but I still like jelly babies and snakes.
Being from Norway I have always had a weakness for salty licorice like Turkish Pepper. Generous giveaway of gorgeous fabrics! Thanks for the chance. Greetings from Seoul, hesabella(at)gmail(dot)com
Congrats on 400+ followers. Your blog is so interesting with so many different things to read about. My favorite candy when I was young was Flicks (I think). They were like flattened Hersheys Kisses. I couldn't wait to go to the Saturday movies just so I could get them. Necco's were always a favorite too. Oh and I couldn't wait to visit my Grandpa because he had little cream filled chocolate candy that he would cut them all in half and save me the chocolate centers.
I am one of your faithful followers and love reading what you are working on. My favorite candy as a child was Sugar Daddies. I haven't seen them, so don't know if they are still made. Nowadays I like Peanut Chews, which might just be available here in the east. Thanks for the generous giveaway. My weekend includes watchin the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs. Wouldn't miss it. Kathie L in Allentown
Congrats on 400 followers! The information on Pez is very interesting. When I was young, we used to spend our allowance on a bag of penny candy. There was a big counter of different yummy candies to choose from. I also liked MacIntosh Toffee. Thanks for the great giveaway.
My favorite childhood candy was Chunky. You can still find it here and there, but it just doesn't taste the same. Oh yeah, I also used to like the candy Dots...you know the one that you had to peel off paper.
I blogged about your giveaway here:
http://quiltyhabit.blogspot.com/2011/01/quilty-habit-2.html
Pez...that brings back a lot of memories. I used to love to go to the newspaper store and buy candy for a penny or two. Those days are gone.
My most favorite candy was DROP. It's a dutch candy, I am Dutch, I don't know if there is an english equivalent.
I love pez too. I always got them for christmas in my stocking.. but my mom wouldn't ever buy them during the year! M&M however were always my favorite... any time of the year!
I blogged about your giveaway at:
http://spicerquilts.blogspot.com/2011/01/120-and-more-stuff.html
I always loved PEZ too!! Such cute little bricks! :)
M&Ms definitely my favorite. "Melts in your mouth, not in your hand!" Now I am going to be craving them, until I get some!
My favorite candy when I was a kid was jujubes- I still love their chewy sweetness.
I will try and post about your giveaway in my next post.
Congratulations on 400 followers ( includes me)
You are one kind and generous quilter,
Regards from Western Canada,
Anna
I am not sure what the name is but it was a packet and one side was a sugary powder and on the end of the packet in a separate pocket was a stick to dip into the sugar to eat it and stick you could eat to....
tshaw6580@yahoo.com
My favorite candy from my childhood is definitely cotton candy, still is.
I just blogged your giveaway at:

I blogged about your giveaway on my blog. My daughter even retaught me how to link your blog. Of course, she may have to reteach me several times more.

Thanks again for the chances to win such a wonderful prize.
I loved and still do...a plain old Hershey's chocolate bar. Nummy
My favorite childhood candy was cinnamon toothpicks.... loved the taste and the spice of the cinnamon! I still chew on them today if I could get them, but I now know they are not good for you (all that splintered wood), but boy, loved them anyway!
Everyday after school, when I could, I would have a BIG TIME candy bar. I am probably dating myself and I doubt anyone remembers them, but they were so good!!
I think my favourite childhood candy would have Maybe the favourite part was being given a handful of copper coins by my great gran and walking down to the corner store and coming home with two paper bags full of freckles :-)
I have blogged about this fine giveaway :-)

My favorite candy as a child.... candied orange slices. :)

Warmest regards.

Fireballs! and they were only a penny back in the olden days.
My favorite candy were suckers and they had to be green. Still love those. Thanks for such a great giveaway.
I loved Sugar Daddy because they lasted so long although you almost pulled out your teeth in the process of eating them. I still love caramel candies the best.
My favorite candy would have to be M&Ms.
I blogged about your giveaway.

Congrats on 400 followers!! Whoo Hoo! And thanks for the great giveaway!
Congratulations on the 400 followers. I am a new follower. I love and loved M&Ms. Thanks for the giveaway.
I'm a new follower and quite impressed with your blog and advice. Your comments today, Jan. 25, echo something I've been wanting to blog about...the "real" stuff of a personal blog.
My all-time favorite candy as a kid was cotton candy, probably because it was such a rare treat. THEN, my very first job as a teenager was to make cotton candy during a store circus promotion. I've never touched it since!!
My favorite candy was a piece of a Hershey bar...my mom was pretty strict about no candy in the house - but we did have candy in our stockings at Christmas...but sometimes in a wild moment of abandon, she would buy a Hershey bar and break off some of it and we were in HEAVEN.
Gotta give due where it's due...I am 46 and have never had a cavity!
I remember always asking for a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, then Kit Kats came out. Sew, it's a real toss up for me!
CONGRATS TO YOU!
MY FAVORITE CANDIES ARE CARAMELS!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR BLOG+FOR SUCH A SWEET GENEROUS GIVEAWAY !
jldouglas@wispwest.net
I loved the sheets of Dots when I was a kid. THey are making a comeback now, but for many years they were unavailable where I lived anyway.
I remember the pez candies too and I found out my DIL collected Pez dispensers...I thought that was a cool collection item! I never thought of it!
My favorite candy was, and still is, Red Hots! Love them.
I always loved those sticky, gooy good orange slices! LOL Happy Anniversary! Thanks for the fun, :-)
Would love to be considered for your blog give away. Beautiful fabric. Thanks for the opportunity to enter.
One of the candies I remember from my childhood was the Christmas parcel coming from England and it had Quality Street in it. Loved to sneak a piece or two. Also remember getting a parcel once that had little cracker (like oyster crackers) that had a dab of dried frosting on it - us kids just love them. The parcels probably took a good month to come over by boat, but see us kids gobble them down.
Again thanks - Robert Kent, in northern Iowa.
I use to love peanut patties. i still do but now I find they are way too sugary
What a generous giveaway! One candy I liked as a child was Mackintosh's Toffee. My grandmother brought it to us sometimes and she taught us to put the bar into the freezer for a while so that we could hit it against the counter to get smaller pieces. I don't remember though how we managed to share the pieces amongst my 3 siblings and I!
I'm a follower of yours and my favorite candy has always been Reese's Pieces. At least once or twice a year I would eat enough of them to make me sick. Thanks for the generous giveaway.=)
hmmmm... favorite candy. I would guess Cadbury Creme eggs since they were so rare (you had to pry them out of Mom's hand!!!
Hmmm, I'm not sure if I entered yet or not. If not, well, then, I guess my favorite childhood candy was anything I could get my hands on. My mom didn't keep any in the house and we never had money to get some, so it was always a treat. Sometimes she'd get us those hard candy sticks in different flavors, and I loved the root beer flavor and the butter rum. Maybe that's my favorite - butter rum Lifesavers.
Chocolate...of any kind...both my grandmothers lived with us and each pension day my dads ma would buy us chocolate...all pretty and wrapped...and i am sure the pleasure was in the choosing which one as much as the eating of it...unfortunately chocolate still is !!!! Thanks so much, thanks for stopping by my blog to say hi...love to you...happy day
My favorite childhood candy - I don't remember, that was so long ago, and we didn't get candy very often. I don't think I had a chance to get a favorite! I liked the candy necklaces, and smarties. I know I didn't like chocolate then. I've made up for that chocolate deficiency now though!
Congrats on reaching 400! As for one andy, it all depends on how old I was at the time, because it changed as I got older, and being a kid covers 18 years worth!!!! One that I go back to now from when I was a kid that you don't see too often or find soft ones are Bit-O-Honey's. I remember being really mad at the age of 8 when they got rid of the red M&M's though. Glad they brought them back too.
I think it's awesome that you have 400+ followers! I have posted your giveaway on my blog at www.itseamstobesew.blogspot.com
Can't wait to see who wins!!!!
Wow, 400 followers, that is great!!! I love the fabric.
As a child my favorite candy was "Sweet Tarts"
My fav candy was Sweet Tarts and I still like them! Congrat's on your 400 blog followers. Great giveaway, so thanks a bunch!
Black licorice...mmm!
I was obsessed with Smarties! I do still love them...they're basically only sugar, which is probably why I loved them!
Oh, I just looked at my post about my favourite candy and realised I missed out a bit. My favourite childhood candy were chocolate freckles.
Even as M&M's...To this day, it remains a favorite candy of mine... It's hard to narrow down my favorite candy as a child, but every time I see Chick-O-Sticks, they take me back to being a kid. :) Thank you for the loverly giveaway!

As I read your post I thought about the Big Hunk candy bars that stuck to my teeth. Sugar daddy suckers were right behind on my list. Congratulations on so many followers. I am one of them. Thank you for the chance to win your giveaway.
My favorite candy was a Peppermint Pattie. Oh, wow! Such memories. My Dad used to buy one for him and one for me. Just because I was Daddy's little girl. These fabrics are beautiful! Congrats to whoever wins. (hope it is me)
Oh, what a great history on Pez! My favorite candy as a child was Good and Plenty. It wasn't my choice though, and I hated the licorice taste, but our empty box of candy was the only thing we were allowed to throw in the fireplace on Saturday nights (I think after watching Sing Along with Mitch). Loved Mitch, hated licorice. And can't think of pez without thinking about the Pez episode of Seinfeld where Elaine laughs during a piano recital over a Tweety bird pez dispenser! Classic! Hope you had a wonderful January Linda! Where did it go? February here we come!!
My favorite candy when I was young was candy necklaces!
Thanks for the chance (I am a follower).♥
I don't know that I had a "favorite" as I loved them all. I do remember loving Beich's (say "Bike's) banana taffy.
I don't now, nor have I ever liked real bananas, but I loved (and still love) that banana taffy. HOwever now my fave is DARK Chocolate.
Butterfingers! Still are my favorite candy bars.

The information on the PEZ was interesting! Hm, my favorite candy was (and is) definitely Werther's originals toffee. My grandma always had them around :) Thanks for the giveaway!

I absolutely loved Junior Mints!
CONGRATULATIONS on 400+ followers!
I'd have to say that looking at everyone's comments brought back many memories of some of my favorite candy. My all-time favorite are the ribbon candies that come out during the holidays. They bring back especially wonderful feelings of Christmas at my grandmother's in upstate NY in a little village called Kinderhook. It truly was much like a Norman Rockwell painting come to life.
I posted your giveaway on my new blog, good luck to all those who have entered this giveaway!
