My Goal Was A Snap!

My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.
~Cary Grant

And yesterday I was occupied almost all day.  And that is a good thing because I figure I only had about 4 1/2 hours of sleep Sunday night.  If I hadn't been busy I most definitely would have been sleeping.  And, if I had been sleeping I wouldn't have slept last night.  It's just a vicious circle, isn't it?  I think my brain was a little numb though because I argued with the printer, I couldn't figure out why the iron wasn't steaming (duh, no water) and I didn't even feel like eating - including even anything sweet!

PHOTO OF THE DAY

Half Dome
I don't think there is anything much more beautiful than Yosemite in the winter.  We haven't been for the last couple of years but I do remember how much in awe I am every time we go.  Winter is the least busy and possibly most beautiful season in Yosemite. The crowds go home, frost coats the trees in the morning, fog freezes, waterfalls start flowing only to freeze at night, and snowstorms coat the park in a white blanket. The wildlife comes out and hotel rates go down.

I achieved my goal yesterday!  I made a snap tape bag to coordinate with the Reusable Market Bag for my hairdresser.  I also made a matching tissue cover too.
I really wanted to make the snap bag out of the red fabric but I just didn't have enough.  I did straight line stitching again and stitched in red to match the stitching on the bag.

Here is the whole set together.  Erica was very happy with her Christmas present!!  Whew!

Yesterday I received the first block from Let's Bee Together group.  Mollie made this wonderful block for me out of the fabric I sent her.

She did a wonderful job.  Thanks, Mollie

TODAY'S GOAL

Today I plan to make a swap block for Gina of London, England.  We are both members of Quilting Block Swaps Australia.  She has requested either a star or applique.  And since I don't do much applique (yet) I am going to make her a star.  I think I have just the perfect star in mind.  She also requested bright happy colors or pastels.  I'm leaning toward the brights.

FINAL THOUGHT

My mind is constantly thinking of what I'd like to be doing instead of concentrating on what I am doing.  I think about blocks I still need/want to make.  I think about a possible stitchery pattern or what color thread I will be using to make the little bird in another stitchery.  There are rare occassions when I do actually think exactly about what I'm working on but it is usually short lived.  Luckily, being a woman, I do well at multi-tasking, even if it is sometimes just in my head.

It is while you are patiently toiling at the little tasks of life that the meaning and shape of the great whole of life dawn on you.

May your day be everything you want it to be!

There's nothing wrong with an active mind!! :-D It keeps us fit and young and most importantly from getting bored! I love the Cary Grant quote. Was he one of the handsomest men in history or what!?!? :-D so of course, he bears listening to. Maybe we could think about HIM while we stitch.....
Hmmmmm.
Blessings!

OK, the snap tape bag idea is coming back to me now. I even went so far as to buy a tape measure a few months ago, but never made anything. Maybe it is time - my current wallet is a mess, and I could use something simple like that...

I went to Yosemite once when I was little...my brother was just toddling, so he must have been about two, which means I was seven, so 19 years ago! I think I need to talk to my folks about plannign a big family trip with them and my two little ones!

I have lived in Montana for almost 9 years now and have yet to be to glacier OR Yellowstone. I Am moving this summer, better hit them up on my way out of town!

I cannot wait for the day that I am so busy that I do not want something sweet to eat. Who wouldn't be happy with the lovely Christmas presents you gave Erica? I love the way the red/white/black colors play off the panel on the front.
