I am deeply touched by the overwhelming support given to Linda for the Walk to Defeat ALS. The outpouring of support, both monetary and moral, helps far more than just Linda and me. The funds raised by this walk makes possible a local case worker, a support group for patients and families, an equipment loan pool, and helps fund vital ground breaking research to find a cure for this devastating disease. I cannot express how much it means to have the loving support of all of you. As much as ALS has taken from us, it has given us many wonderful things. I know that may sound very strange, but Linda and I have reflected many times what wonderful, courageous people we have met, how much closer we have become, and has helped us to appreciate what a gift this life is. One of the best things has been our involvement in the monthly ALS support group. At group we console each other, trade tips on how to deal with the ever changing and varied symptoms, learn about the disease, exchange funny and no-so-funny stories, talk about our fears, share what has helped us, what doesn't work, what ticks us off, how to navigate some of the insurance/legal issues, etc, etc. As you may know, Linda is not much of a joiner (ie; local quilt guild), but she makes sure that we arrange our schedule to fit with group meeting times. Again, thank you all so much, and think of the ALS motto: Never Give Up! - Linda hasn't.Sincerely, Linda's DH (Greg)
