~Rod McKuen, Looking for a Friend
I would like to thank each and every one of you in blogland that has become a follower of my blog. I try to keep up with every one of your postings daily (if you have a blog) but some times I get a few days behind, but you are never be forgotten! As a thank you I am hosting another giveaway. Below you will find out what it is and how to enter.
Photo of the Day:
Clover in my backyard
Clover, or trefoil, is a genus of about 300 species of plants in the leguminous pea family Fabaceae. Clovers are a valuable survival food, as they are high in protein, widespread, and abundant. They are not easy to digest raw, but this can be easily fixed by juicing them or boiling them for 5–10 minutes. Dried flower heads and seedpods can also be ground up into a nutritious flour and mixed with other foods. Dried flower heads can also be steeped in hot water for a healthy, tasty tea. I think I'll just leave mine in the backyard, thank you very much.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Yesterday was actually productive for a change. I started assembling the Paganini I'm working on (pictures will come later). I did complete two more of the Cheryl's Sew Along Blocks from So Many Quilts, So Little Time. The third block in the series is called Paddle Wheel. Here is my version:
Paddle Wheel
The fourth block is called Crosses and Losses - here is my block for that one
Crosses and Losses
If you would like to see the first two blocks, click here. Cheryl gives excellent instruction and provides great pictures to help you through each block. I just found out that posted block 5 yesterday so I'm still not caught up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This weekend we went shopping at Costco, where I purchased a clam shell of Fuji Apples (so delicious!). Thanks to a recent post by Stash Manicure (there was an excellent post about using plastic packaging for storage - check it out here), once I emptied out the apples, I kept thinking that there must be some way to use the clam shell. Then I came up with an idea
Here it is opened up with all of the four patch blocks for my Chubby Stars Quilt. They kept falling on the floor or sliding off the table to the back where I couldn't reach them without the aid of a long handled grabber, and this keeps them in place.
And here it is closed keeping every block in its place and dust free, too!
Just an idea that bounced around in my head and actually came out as something beneficial. Maybe this will give you an idea too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh my goodness, I almost forgot!! It's One Flower Wednesday! I did manage to create one more Hexie Flower this weekend for my Flower Garden Quilt. No fussy cuts this time, just more bright colors.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for my 'Thank You' giveaway. I am giving away a set of 8 Sun Porch Prints Two by Four Corners Designs for Nathan Fabrics. Each piece is 1/2 yard for a total of 4 yards of fabric!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Final Thoughts
Friends are such a precious commodity. Throughout your life you will keep friends, drift away from friends, make new friends. However, a true friend will remain with you forever, even if only in your thoughts. We are lucky to have had at least one best friend in a life time, but are richer for being able to call many our friends. So, to you my friends, thank you for becoming my friend - I enjoy each and every one of you and hope you will consider me as your friend too. Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
What would I do with the fabric? My DD just moved into a new apartment and she loves brights in coral, aqua, etc. and wants me to make her placemats and table runner. This fabric would be great for that project since my stash is mostly repro fabrics.
You already know what I am working on since you are sewing along with me. And I'll be back after I blog about your giveaway.
Right now I am working on some batik blocks. Still not sure if I like them or not, but I'll do a few more before I decide.
As you know, I am a follower.
I think I'd like to make a quilt for my guest room. Although as I was lying in bed last night I considered making the guest room my sewing room. Because it's a much larger space.
I am working on a Picnic Parade quilt and I just pulled some Batiks for another idea that's percolating.
I love your blocks of Cheryl's SAL! I have to catch up with you soon ;) And your hexagon flower reminds me of a lollipop!
What would I do with it? Hmmm. I have a tumbler obsession. Or maybe a dresden plate? Never made one of those...
What am I working on? Not losing my temper. I spent two nights free-motion quilting around a appliqued vines. And had to rip them out because the thread on the back came up. So then I fussed and fiddled with the tension, the samples looked fine, so off I went. Now I'm ripping out two days of quilting because the top thread's showing on the bottom. I sense a scrap quilt in the next few days. Something I can put together quickly without a lot of measuring and trimming. There are pictures of scrap quilts - www.aspenhill.wordpress.com.
And I'm following you, too!
i followed a link from Cheryl's blog: So many quilts, so little time! and am so glad i did. your blog is chock full of all sorts of surprises. would you mind if i add you to the sidebar on my own blog?
Love Leanne NZ
I'm back - I'm following too
I have many Ufo's to finish, but at the moment I am cleaning my sewing room so that I can find all the things I have lost. I have just finished making Mrs Perkins, a Melly and Me pattern.
I posted about your giveaway in the sidebar of my blog. Thank you.
Most of the fabrics would go into my hexie quilt, but the two purples would go in my neices purple passion quilt I am working on.
I am a new follower.
I am working on a purple quilt for my neice, a hexie quilt that is just in the making hexagons stage, and making finger puppets for my grandson. There are always new projects starting as I am easily side tracked...obviously from my blog - cronauercreations.blogspot.com
I had started a glorified ninepatch a few years ago and it isn't large enough. I'd add a few more ninepatches with these to get it to a bigger more usable size.
I'm working on a zigzag baby quilt for my newest grandbaby, born two days ago. I'm at the pinning stage and I want to get it done this week so I can start on wallhangings for Christmas presents. I bought panels last year; so all I have to do is make some pieced borders and quilt and tada..nice presents!
What would I do with that beautiful fabric? .... I think it would make a beautiful quilt. Hope you weren't expecting something more elaporate. I need to see and touch fabric and get an idea of it before I start sewing.
I am a follower, with a question?
Are you still looking for people to participate in the pass it forward challenge. I can't get it out of my mind. I would love to participate.
Ah! I love these fabrics! I can picture some beautiful dresden plates made out of this, maybe a set of wall hangings?! Ah love it! No, really, I do! =D
I am currently working on two different projects, a baby quilt for a friend (block here: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4144/4978826200_a208991878.jpg ) and also a quilt for my very own bed which is a stack and whack type because well, I can really procrastinate when I know it's for myself!
