The above quote says it all! And as a thank you to all of my new and old friends, I'm going to have my 2nd giveaway. But more about that later.
I was able to accomplish two of the three things I had planned yesterday. I cut out all of the fabric for my Chubby Stars Quilt Along. I will post pictures of that at a later date. If you would like to join in the fun, just click on the button on the right side. I was also able to pin baste my brown and blue quilt. Needless to say, my back is rather stiff today but I do also feel a sense of accomplishment.
Photo of the Day:
This is a pair of House Finches - two of several that visit my yard daily.
The House Finch resides throughout the west, from southern Canada to southern Mexico, and east to Nebraska. Introduced to eastern North America, where it is now widespread in cities and residential areas. In the west the preferred habitats include chaparral, deserts, orchards, and suburban areas - I would say that means pretty much everywhere! The coloring of the male House Finch can range from deep red to golden yellow, depending on available diet during molting. Originally they were brought from the Southwest to Long Island as caged birds. In 1940, a small population was released into the wild and flourished. They have since spread throughout the eastern and Midwestern United States. A group of house finches are collectively known as a "development" of finches.
Today is One Flower Wednesday! I completed my second flower on Labor Day, but it wasn't labor at all - it was fun!
Do you like the little bird in the center?
Now I have a choice to make - What color of background fabric do I want to use. I have narrowed it down to four but would like your opinion on what the final selection should be. Here are the choices:
I'm not going to tell you what color(s) I'm leaning toward but definitely would like your input!
THANK YOU!
Now for the giveaway! As a thank you to all who have become followers and for helping reach my goal of at least 50, I'm hosting my 2nd giveaway! There's a little something for everyone but there will only be one big winner.

my initial thought was white, but when I really looked, I think I would go with the yellow
I am a follower...and love it
Just here to tell you your flower is nice ;-)
Lovely flowers and my choice is lemon, it makes the colors live.
Greetings
Ines
I love the bird in the center of your flower. I am already a follower of your great blog :O)
Linda I shared the word about your giveaway
http://mcmawblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/another-great-giveaway-to-let-you-know.html
I think the yellow looks the best to me :O)
I'm a follower!
Light Lemon for me. Makes the other yellows pop.
I think the light green. One of those house finches look like it still has it's puffy baby feathers! Congrats on your 50+ followers.
I already follow you.
I really like the green. It goes along well with the flower theme and it is a nontraditional background color which goes along well with the nontraditional bright colors of the flowers themselves.
I am already a follower and would like to be included in your giveaway. Actually, I see quite a few things that I would love to have.
Now, as for the background color, it is very hard to see the true colors. At first glance, I thought the white one was a light blue (I was so glad that you wrote the colors on the fabrics). If you want each hexagon flower to stand out, I think I would use white. However, I am very partial to yellow. So my vote is yellow. Let us know which you have your heart set on.
And I just blogged about your giveaway on my blog www.talinscorner.blogspot.com (September 8).
I would suggest the cream or the yellow - but that is purely from my heads point of view!
Congratulations on the 50 followers hun :D
If I was to choose a color it would be the lemon it just seems to go well with your bright colors . I won't be entering your great giveaway as I am a Canadian but good luck to all those who enter .
I like your flowers, and I leaning to the green fabric too.
No luck for me, since I live in the Netherlands. But I love your flowers and the little birdie heart! I would go for cream or white. Probably cream.
With these two flowers, I like the light green, but that's because both of the flowers have a bit of green. With all bright flowers, I think I would choose white to make the colors shine. Take care!
Hmmm. What colours for your background. Well, I hope you're not leaning towards the cream, I don't like that one. It's a bit muddy and your flowers are so bright. Of the rest, I like them all but I think the flowers would pop more on the white or yellow. Of white and yellow, well that's a toss up. I think I'd end up with yellow. Just 'cause I like yellow.
I am a new follower
I like the yellow for the background
Please don't enter me in your giveaway but I did want to comment on the background choices...the white will certainly make those POP but at same time I like the yellow...not keen on the green or the off-white.
Lovely bright flowers, not like my faded under the heat kind of Arizona grown flowers!! Very pretty!! I make Limo (Our Dachshund.)'s collar since she was a puppy. Isn't it fun?
Hi Linda, I am so glad I found your blog it's great
Hi Linda, I'm just here to see your flower. Love the little bird in the center and I think I am leaning towards the light green fabric.
I think that I would lean towards the light gree myself. Great looking flowers!!!!
Love your pretty little finches.
I'm a new follower!!! ...great blog!!
I would choose the light green fabric. Congrats!!
Nice little birdy.
I'm a new follower!! I always enjoy quilting related blogs!
I'd go with the cream or the light yellow for the back, I'd pick those 2, flip a coin and go from there.
I blogged about your giveaway here
I am partial to the colour green...so that gets my vote.
:)
Yes, of course I like the little bird in the center!
About the background, I thinks I would choose the yellow one.
I love the little bird in your flower. I am torn between the yellow and green background fabric. If I had to be pinned down, I would go with the yellow.
I am following!!!
I like the white or the lemon yellow. Thanks for the chance!
I am a follower. Thanks for the chance!
Regarding the background color, my first inclination is to say white - I think the contrast would be great and make the colors really pop. But then I wonder, why am I always so safe? Yellow would also make them pop and be different to boot. So, my final answer is....yellow!
I am a new follower, but really like your blog (even if you didn't have this giveaway). I'm just officially now following

I think all of your background colors would work well for this quilt. It might be that you want to think about the room it will be in. I do so love traditional white backgrounds, but your green also looks so soothing, and the yellow looks so cheerful, and the cream just looks dreamy. How about making one of each?

Should I win, I'd really be happy with any of the prizes. They are all great and you are very generous. But the pink Presencia - Finca Perle Cotton has caught my eye as I've been wanting to play with Perle Cotton on the machine and have a couple of projects I could use this color with.

Thank you for the giveaway. I am already a follower. entry 1
My favorite is the light green fabric for the background.
Thanks for the giveaway. I just became a follower and love your blog already!
The best background is the light green one. It is soothing and does not fight with the bright colors of the flowers but allows them to pop!
I'm a follower.
I like the white, but I always like white. I love how white makes the colors stand out.
I am a new follower. What a great giveaway! :)
I think I like the light lemon yellow best for the background. Looks cute. Can't wait to see it finished.
I thought I had already entered but don't see my posts. SO if this is there twice, please disregard one!

I'm a fairly new follower. I believe I was number 48.
Linda, this is a wonderful giveaway! I love your flowers. Especially the fussy cut bird. I think you should use the yellow. So far your colors are so bright and pretty--I just think the yellow really "pops" them.
I am a new follower.
I would use the yellow as the background.

I would use white - I just like the crisp feel/look of a white background.
Wonderful giveaway. I'm a new follower.
GMFG color choice. I'm a traditionalist, my color choice would have to be cream. (You might also consider a soft pearl grey for your next one.)
I am a follower.
As for the background..I like the light yellow, but, the light green looks pretty good as well.
love the little fussy-cut bird in the center of your flower :)
New follower. Thanks for the giveaway!
I'm liking the light green for the background of your flowers!
I posted your giveaway on my blog. http://rambuschdesigns.blogspot.com
I am a new follower.
It's hard to choose the background color. I go with white, but if light blue were a choice I would have chosen that.
I'd have to choose white for the background also.
New follower here. I was sent by Diary of a Quilt Maven to help you out with your 100 followers. Good Luck!
I would choose white for the background. I think it will make all those pretty bright colors really pop.
hmm, my vote of background color would be white. Anything else would just blend in. Let the flowers take the stage.
I'm following, I'm following, I following far behind. But I'm still here.
I think the light green would be nice.
I am follower #95. You are almost to 100! Yay!
I like the white background best.
The light lemon sounds so neat with the leaf colors! Thanks so for sharing!

Hi there... I've been a follower. ;-) ...Karen
As for the background? I prefer the crisp white, especially with the brights you have used for your flowers. And I like the little birdie, too.
...Karen
I think I would go with the green background. Love your blog.
I am a follower! thanks for the great giveaway
I am a Follower and I have blogged about your give away. I like the yellow for the background.
I have become one of your followers, your blog is very entertaining and enjoyable to read.
I vote that your use light yellow for your flower quilt.
I follow your blog through GFC. And sometimes read your blog on my iphone through Reader. I love it when Snickerdoodle's or Weasley's faces pop up. My 3 year old cracks up. I think he thinks they live in the phone!

I'm leaning towards the light yellow for your quilt. Maybe white? But my computer monitor reads the white as a light blue, so I can't really tell what white would do in the background. I think the yellow makes the other colors POP :)
Thank you for this generous giveaway!
