It's Giveaway Time!

"Quilts, like friends, are warm and comforting; you can never acquire enough of either."
                                                                    ~author unknown

The above quote says it all!  And as a thank you to all of my new and old friends, I'm going to have my 2nd giveaway.  But more about that later.

I was able to accomplish two of the three things I had planned yesterday.  I cut out all of the fabric for my Chubby Stars Quilt Along.  I will post pictures of that at a later date.  If you would like to join in the fun, just click on the button on the right side.  I was also able to pin baste my brown and blue quilt.  Needless to say, my back is rather stiff today but I do also feel a sense of accomplishment.

Photo of the Day:

This is a pair of House Finches - two of several that visit my yard daily.

The House Finch resides throughout the west, from southern Canada to southern Mexico, and east to Nebraska.  Introduced to eastern North America, where it is now widespread in cities and residential areas.  In the west the preferred habitats include chaparral, deserts, orchards, and suburban areas - I would say that means pretty much everywhere!  The coloring of the male House Finch can range from deep red to golden yellow, depending on available diet during molting.  Originally they were brought from the Southwest to Long Island as caged birds. In 1940, a small population was released into the wild and flourished. They have since spread throughout the eastern and Midwestern United States.  A group of house finches are collectively known as a "development" of finches.

Today is One Flower Wednesday!  I completed my second flower on Labor Day, but it wasn't labor at all - it was fun!

Do you like the little bird in the center?

Now I have a choice to make - What color of background fabric do I want to use.  I have narrowed it down to four but would like your opinion on what the final selection should be.  Here are the choices:

I'm not going to tell you what color(s) I'm leaning toward but definitely would like your input!

THANK YOU!
Now for the giveaway! As a thank you to all who have become followers and for helping reach my goal of at least 50, I'm hosting my 2nd giveaway!  There's a little something for everyone but there will only be one big winner.

See anything appealing?

That's it!  Would you like a chance to win all of this?  Then you must follow the rules and each entry must be entered as a separate comment:

1.  Become a follower and leave me a comment indicating that you are new or let me know that you are already a follower

2.  Help me select the background color for my flower garden quilt.  Leave a comment stating which color you think would go best with all bright colored flowers - choices are listed above in this blog (white, light lemon yellow, cream, or light green)

3.  Include my giveaway in your blog and leave a comment stating that you have.  Include a link to your blog (and I will be checking!).

That gives you up to three chances to enter the giveaway.  Sorry, but this giveaway is only open to those who live in the USA.  This giveaway ends September 19th at 6:00 pm PST.  I will announce the winner on Monday, September 20.

Good luck to you all!  And thank you again for making this giveaway possible by helping me reach my goal of 50 followers!  When I started this blog I figured I would probably have around 10 followers, mostly family and friends.  I enjoy sharing my world with you and reading the comments you have left for me.  I thoroughly enjoy all of my new and old blog-land friends!

Final Thoughts:
We are half way through the week but it feels like it is just starting - Monday holidays really do a job on my brain and scheduling.  I hope you are able to complete the tasks you set for yourself - but be kind to yourself and allow some rest time too.  Have a great Wednesday and don't forget to tell your friends about my giveaway!

Light Lemon for me. Makes the other yellows pop.

Megan Harmeyer said...

I think the light green. One of those house finches look like it still has it's puffy baby feathers! Congrats on your 50+ followers.

Ashley said...

I already follow you.

Ashley said...

I really like the green. It goes along well with the flower theme and it is a nontraditional background color which goes along well with the nontraditional bright colors of the flowers themselves.

I am already a follower and would like to be included in your giveaway. Actually, I see quite a few things that I would love to have.

Talin's Corner said...

Now, as for the background color, it is very hard to see the true colors. At first glance, I thought the white one was a light blue (I was so glad that you wrote the colors on the fabrics). If you want each hexagon flower to stand out, I think I would use white. However, I am very partial to yellow. So my vote is yellow. Let us know which you have your heart set on.

Talin's Corner said...

And I just blogged about your giveaway on my blog www.talinscorner.blogspot.com (September 8).

Emybloom said...

I would suggest the cream or the yellow - but that is purely from my heads point of view!

Congratulations on the 50 followers hun :D

Sheila said...

If I was to choose a color it would be the lemon it just seems to go well with your bright colors . I won't be entering your great giveaway as I am a Canadian but good luck to all those who enter .

Saskia said...

I like your flowers, and I leaning to the green fabric too.

Simone de Klerk said...

No luck for me, since I live in the Netherlands. But I love your flowers and the little birdie heart! I would go for cream or white. Probably cream.

Becky said...

With these two flowers, I like the light green, but that's because both of the flowers have a bit of green. With all bright flowers, I think I would choose white to make the colors shine. Take care!

Anonymous said...

Hmmm. What colours for your background. Well, I hope you're not leaning towards the cream, I don't like that one. It's a bit muddy and your flowers are so bright. Of the rest, I like them all but I think the flowers would pop more on the white or yellow. Of white and yellow, well that's a toss up. I think I'd end up with yellow. Just 'cause I like yellow.

I like the yellow for the background

Please don't enter me in your giveaway but I did want to comment on the background choices...the white will certainly make those POP but at same time I like the yellow...not keen on the green or the off-white.

Lovely bright flowers, not like my faded under the heat kind of Arizona grown flowers!! Very pretty!! I make Limo (Our Dachshund.)'s collar since she was a puppy. Isn't it fun?

I'd go with the cream or the light yellow for the back, I'd pick those 2, flip a coin and go from there.

About the background, I thinks I would choose the yellow one.

I love the little bird in your flower. I am torn between the yellow and green background fabric. If I had to be pinned down, I would go with the yellow.

Regarding the background color, my first inclination is to say white - I think the contrast would be great and make the colors really pop. But then I wonder, why am I always so safe? Yellow would also make them pop and be different to boot. So, my final answer is....yellow!

I think all of your background colors would work well for this quilt. It might be that you want to think about the room it will be in. I do so love traditional white backgrounds, but your green also looks so soothing, and the yellow looks so cheerful, and the cream just looks dreamy. How about making one of each?

Should I win, I'd really be happy with any of the prizes. They are all great and you are very generous. But the pink Presencia - Finca Perle Cotton has caught my eye as I've been wanting to play with Perle Cotton on the machine and have a couple of projects I could use this color with.

The best background is the light green one. It is soothing and does not fight with the bright colors of the flowers but allows them to pop!

GMFG color choice. I'm a traditionalist, my color choice would have to be cream. (You might also consider a soft pearl grey for your next one.)

I'm leaning towards the light yellow for your quilt. Maybe white? But my computer monitor reads the white as a light blue, so I can't really tell what white would do in the background. I think the yellow makes the other colors POP :)
