Flowers and Cake, Too!

I know my blog looks different.  I've been trying to work on it and have done nothing but to mess it up.  Please ignore the change - the content is still the same.  Hopefully it will be back to normal soon.

Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.

I had a very chopped up day yesterday.  It felt like it started late but it didn't.  I did get a little behind when I spent more time than usual answering emails.  I think that's what put my day in a blender sort of feeling day.  First I worked putting sashing on blocks.  Then it was time to cut and sew my hexagon flower for today.  Oops, now I'd better have some lunch or I won't be any good this afternoon.  Read some blogs during lunch.  I really have to set a time limit there or I would spend the entire day just blog hopping.  Next was a quick cut out of a pin cushion pattern and then there was still time to put in two more hours on quilting the brown and blue quilt.  Whew!  I'm tired just reading what I did yesterday.  My days will probably be disjointed this way until I get the darn quilting done.  Now on with today!

PHOTO FACT OF THE DAY

National Scrabble Day

Today, April 13th is Scrabble Day. Here's some Scrabble Trivia that might inspire you to host an impromptu game night!
-The original Scrabble didn't include a board. It was played with just the tiles.
-Can you guess what kind of wood is used to make Scrabble letters? Vermont Maple.
-Scrabble is a real word. It means "to scratch frantically."
-There is just one Q in a Scrabble game.
-Scrabble sets are found in one out of every three American homes.
-The original name of Scrabble was "Criss-Crosswords."
-There are some 200,000 words allowed in Scrabble and every five years or so several thousand words are added
-The highest known score for a single word in competition Scrabble is 392. In 1982, Dr. Saladin Khoshnaw achieved this score for the word "caziques," which means "Indian chief."
-There is a Braille version of Scrabble.
-A local ordinance in Atwoodville, Connecticut, prohibits people from playing Scrabble while waiting for a politician to speak.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Today is my DD#2's birthday!  33 years old!  And she is our baby!
Happy Birthday, Kristen
(just in case you might read my blog today)

MY FLOWER

It's hard to believe it's already One Flower Wednesday!  Yesterday I created one little hexagon flower...

I thought the little paw print fabric with the mouse was cute.  Just realized I should have made the petals orange to represent cheese.  Oh well, next time.

HEXIES RECEIVED

This is a perfect day to share to hexie flowers I received in the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap.

These two wonderful flowers were made for me by Hanne and came all the way from Denmark.  I just love the strawberries and the spiderweb petals.  She wrote a note on a beautiful Claude Monet notecard too.  Thank you, Hanne!

LAYER CAKE

I did manage to get a little work done on the assembly of my Layer Cake Quilt.

Here is the first row.  The colors in the sashing don't show up too well.  Hopefully I will get the rest put together today and I can take a picture outside in the sunlight.

NO REPLY BLOGGER - MELANIE

There were nine people that left comments for the giveaway that I could not respond to :(  But this little bit is directed at a person named Melanie.  Melanie has left me several comments lately that I would love to respond to but you are set to No Reply Blogger.  I tried going to a blog but it wouldn't even take me to a profile.  I would love to respond to your comments, Melanie.  If you could at least leave me an email with your comment you would receive an reply from me.  Even do this by code if you would like, such as linda dot gilli at gmail dot com.

FINAL THOUGHT
I am having blog issues.  I don't know where my buttons have gone.  I posted a question with blogger but haven't had any results.  I think it has to do with the "new and improved" blogger.  How frustrating!  I guess I will have to try and make new buttons myself - oh heaven help me - I'm no techno geek.  I don't understand the ins and outs of making computer things work.  That is why I paid someone to create my blog page and my buttons.  If anybody can help or tell me why this is happening, please let me know.  My blog looks really cluttered with those stupid boxes from photobucket floating around on it.  It makes me want to cry :(

Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.

It's a wonderful and wild Wednesday!!

I'm having blogger issues too, but my issue is that when I check my blogs.. I have blog feeds that won't show as READ.. they don't go away.. frustrating.

Photobucket says it's having issues.... maybe try contacting them since they are leaving a lovely little square over the blog no matter how I scroll?

Linda, another great post! I love that you put all this time into your posts - I should do the same but I'm always in such a rush! The quote at the top of today's is wonderful! I let people steal my time way too often! But then again I think, they need me, or I shouldn't be selfish or self-centered, I need to be Christian, etc., etc. Hard to find the right balance! thanks, Linda, and good luck with these pesky blogging issues - argh! frustrating, I know!

I love that little mouse in the middle of your hexie flower. Simply charming.

Linda, I had the same thing happen to my blog a couple of years ago. The problem I had was the website I was using for my background was over their allotment of picture views and they did not upgrade. I quickly changed my background to another host, and have not had any problems since. It seems the problem is mostly whoever is hosting your background.

It looks like the images on photobucket may have been deleted. Were you hosting them? Or the person that designed your site? You need to log into Photobucket and make sure the links are pointing to the correct photo. I hope this makes sense. Email me if you need help.

I had to highlight everything on your blog to read it yesterday and today, that darn little photobucket thingy is on top of everything. It follows me up and down the page.

Oops I forgot, Scrabble is my all time favorite game. I even have a hand held version.

Love your little mouse flower. I added a gmail account to my blog this week and have had nothing but problems. Google took over and messed me up royally, so I went back to my verizon and yahoo emails. So, I sympathize with your blog problems.

My husband and I played Scrabble on our honeymoon! We went to Corpus Christi and were staying in his uncle's house (while the uncle was away) and a hurricane came through and just about wiped the town out! We had no power, so we spent some time playing Scrabble!

I can't help with the blog problem, I'm more tech-dumb than you. You are not alone, as I have seen this on other sites.

Love the hexies - all so cute, you clever people you. My SIL and I play scrabble at least one night a week - we are terrible spellers, but lots of laughs. Enjoy your Weds.

Scrabble used to be our favorite game years ago. Never heard of Scrabble Day!? Your hexie flower looks lovely and other blocks are just as nice :) I better get to my sewing machine to make mine!!

I tried to alter my blog using a host and nearly lost the blog. I've been too scared to try since.

So sorry about the PB/blogspot problems. This blog is also plagued by whatever is going on.

I literally laughed out loud when I read that it's illegal to play Scrabble while waiting for a politician to speak in that Connecticut town! My husband and I have been playing a version of Scrabble on our iPhones. I will have to play the word "caziques" if I can! The highest-scoring word I've played so far was "javas" for 119 points in a game against my son-in-law. He was NOT happy.

Your layer cake quilt is coming along nicely, and I love the little mouse hexagon. I prefer the red petals you chose over orange. :-) Take care!

Hi Linda,
I think we are all having blogger issues...my photobucket buttons are haywire too! I loved the little paw hexie...the fabric you used for the petals looked like crape paper (sp?) and I think that looks really neat! Hope you had a wonderful day!

At least the photobucket image disappeared! Good luck!
