Hints and Hoppies

If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You have another chance.
 ~Andrea Boydston

Yeah!  I woke up breathing again this morning.  Definitely off to a good start.  Breath in.....breath out......breath in.....oooooh, now I'm light headed - lol!  Breathing is something most of us take for granted.  We do it all of the time without having to think about it.  Only when we are winded from over exertion do we stop and think about the act of breathing.  When we are sick and our nose is plugged or we are plagued by a coughing attack we once again wonder about that next breath.  Aren't we lucky to be able to breath at will, no thought to the process, it just happens.  Okay, everybody inhale - hold it, hold it, hold it - exhale.  Now you are ready to start the day!

PHOTO FACT OF THE DAY

I couldn't stick to just one topic to fact you with today.  I found a bunch of unusual uses for household products.  You may never look at things in your kitchen in quite the same way ever again.
1. Pam cooking spray will dry your nails
2. Cool Whip will condition your hair in 15 minutes.
3. Elmer's Glue -- paint on your face, allow it to dry, peel off and see the dead skin and blackheads.
4. Shiny Hair - rinse in brewed Lipton Tea.
5. Burn your tongue? Put sugar on it!
6. Arthritis? WD-40 Spray and rub in; kills insect sting pain, too.

MORE BUNNIES

Yesterday I completed the applique blocks for the Quilted Table swap.  Remember yesterday I shared the pink bunny with you, well today I will share the other two.....

Here is Mr. Purple Bunny.  I like the textured look of his fur.

And here is Mr. Blue Bunny.  He looks rather springy with his rosebud fur.
I also made two more carrot blocks but they look just like the ones I made yesterday.

ANOTHER WIN

I have been very lucky lately!  Last week I received an email from Colleen informing me that I had won her giveaway.  It arrived today.....

Look at all that pretty pink and red fabric!  The Egyptian print is quite bold yet very detailed.  I'm not sure exactly what I will create with it yet but I'm sure something will happen with it.  Thank you so very much, Colleen, for the wonderful fabrics!  You can visit Colleen over at her blog, Lucky Duck Dreams.

ALMOST FINISHED

Yesterday I was able to sandwich and quilt my mini quilt.

It's hard to see the quilting but it is just a very simple stitch-in-the-ditch.  I even was able to attach the binding and hanging sleeve.  I'm not going to show you the top until it is completed and hanging.

TODAY'S GOAL

Today I plan to hand stitch the binding on the quilt above.  If I have the time, I might select the fabric for my March 12 inch quilt for my metal display stand.

FINAL THOUGHT

There are just so many different crafts out there.  My favorites are quilting (of course), counted cross stitch, embroidery, and crochet.  I currently do not have a counted cross stitch project but have many patterns just waiting for me.  I have always wanted to learn to make leaded glass windows but the thought of working with all of that glass is just a little bit scary.  I have tried knitting and even made a few sweaters but always seemed to lose count or drop a stitch.  I used to sew clothes for my girls when they were growing up but once they reached high school they no longer wished for those handmade items. I also did my fair share of needlepoint.  Even as a child I was into crafts - wood burning projects, looms (with those stretchy bands) to make potholders, tiled ashtrays and painted flower pots.  Oh, and don't forget the macrame craze - I did a lot of that too!  But I think the textile crafts have won as I have been doing those since I was about 8.  Do you multi craft or is quilting your one and only love?

I keep my end tables full of needlework and quilting so I don't have to dust them.

Today is Thursday - may yours be full of wonderful thoughts!

WD-40, too many uses to list!! Quilting is my main hobby at the moment. Dabbling in rug hooking, needlepunch embroidery and X-stitching.

Great idea to keep the needlework/quilting on the end table so we don't have to dust. However, I have heard that dust is a protective coating for furniture. :)

My main hobby at the moment is quilting, but this year I committed to finishing a LOT of UFOs. So...I went back and pulled out 3 x-stitch pictures that I started YEARS ago! All of a sudden it's fun again. So I stitch an hour every night, and would you believe that two of the three pictures are now finished?!! It just shows that putting a little bit of time towards something will equal a completion in the end.

I've done a little bit of everything, thanks to my grandmother's influence - she thought I should know how to do it all! Counted cross-stitch used to be my one true love until my eyes started to get old - but for the past year and a bit, my passion has been quilting!

Needed the quote on your blog today! I started quilting when I became ill 13 years ago with an autoimmune disease, Stage IV pulmonary sarcoidosis, and have been on steroids since then. Since I was only 37 and unable to work - I needed something to do to make my mind feel good. So, I took up hand piecing & quilting and LOVE it! This morning I had a lot of difficulty breathing and you are right, when you have to think about breathing, it's not fun. While I am optimistic most of the time, it's impossible to be that way every day but your post did it! Thank you!
Happy Stitching!

I am a multi crafter too. Needlepoint is one that has never thrilled me, but I have done a lot of leaded glass. I used to actually have a business (during it's heyday). The biggest job was a house where I had to make 186 windows!!!!

I love your bunnies. The tummies really do look textured.

I've done just about everything except painting, ( can't paint) and stained glass art.....don't have the space for it. Someday I will get into stained glass though. But until then I will stick mainly with quilting. Crochet and knitting irritate carpal tunnel syndrome, and cross stitch gives me a headache, need glasses I suppose as I get am getting older. I have so much other craft stuff in my room, I am running out of places to put everything anymore.

The Egyptian print fabric just intrigues me! Your bunnies are just 'hop-a-licious'.

Oh my, the macrame craze - but I still remember a lot of knots that helped when my boys were in scouts.

I use to crochet and knit, clothing sewing for kids. I have been cross stitching for a very long time. Injury/disability led me to quilting. Wow - 4 yrs. has piled up a lot of fabric and quilts. And led to the quilty bloggy-land and lots of friends.

I'm another one who likes today's quote. I try to remember to take deep breaths throughout the day because it is supposed to be good for the body. And I'm a multi-crafter. I was involved in a cross-stitch along last year and miss it this year. We did alot of busy things with our hands growing up because there wasn't a computer around. Love, love your bunnies:)

First of all, thanks for sharing the tips on all these household items. Interesting.

And I envy you! Gee, this is at least the second or third time you had won the giveaways, right?

Hope I would win something someday too. I love fabric!

By the way, I don't know how you found all these giveaways. Great job! Thanks again for sharing.

I followed your breathing exercises and found out that indeed I am awake and have another day...........grin.

You cracked me up!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Yup, still alive! What fun fabric you got, and those bunnies are too cute.
I'm a multi crafter, you know the saying, jack of all trades, master of none, that's me. I kind of rotate through them. Currently I'm doing a little knitting, some spinning, but mostly sewing.

I don't think the Cool Whip would make it past my mouth to get on my hair! lol

Your bunnies turned out sooo cute - great job!

I quilt, paint ceramics, & crochet. I have just started my very first crochet with a PATTERN! Mostly I just do scarves...and I've been told that I crochet backwards! lol Works for me! I am also starting to dabble in journal/collage. I got some Inktense pencils that are really fun - they're like regular colored pencils, but you can also brush them with water & not only does it look like water coloring, but it's also permanent. I believe you can use them on fabric too, and after being wet, the ink is permanent.

Love those hints! I mainly quilt, dabble in recycling and mod podge. Also garden and workout, walk the dog as weather permits. Actually, I get very little time to quilt!

I like a variety of crafts. QUilting being my favorite, but I also like cross stitch (not much preparation except to gather threads)and redwork. I would like to do more such as scrapbooking, knitting and crochet but don't have the time to learn and do them.

Quilting is my passion. When I have extra time I scrapbook. Other than those two, those are the only ones I do. Hugs

Thanks for that opening quote! Wonder if hubby would mind me painting it on the ceiling above our bed?

I mostly quilt. Occasionally I do other machine sewing and I do own an embroidery machine. But my carpal tunnel has lead me to give up cross stitch and embroidery.

I am a multi crafter. Trouble is that there are just not enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do.

Have you tried the Elmer's glue sking mask?
