Bloggers' Quilt Festival: Spring 2011

I know, two posts in one day but I decided last minute to join in the Bloggers' Quilt Festival being hosted by Amy's Creative Side.

My entry is one that you all just recently helped me celebrate as a finish.....

Minnesota Stars Quilt

Size:  60" X 72"
Designer:  Kristin Gassaway
Fabric:  Connecting Threads Kit

I started this quilt early last summer (2010).  When my youngest daughter saw the fabric she said that she really liked the colors.  Keep in mind, this is my daughter who usually does express any interest in the things I've made.  She just has not had any interest - or at least she hasn't ever shown any.  Well, without her knowing it, I had already planned that it would be a quilt made for her.  The colors are/were perfect for her color scheme in her house.  I had every intention of having it completed by Christmas - after all, that was 7 months away!  I had the top completed by the end of September.  It wasn't a difficult pattern.  The only part that gave me fits was trying to make sure that there were not similar print blocks next to each other.  October and November rolled around and the quilt top remained where I had left it in September - laying across the spare bed in the guest room.  December came and I pieced the backing together.  No problem - Christmas is still 3 weeks away.  As you can probably guess by now,  Christmas came and went and did Valentines day without the quilt being finished.  I should have sent it out to the long arm quilter but I had already quilted the first row of blocks.  Finally, last month, I was determined to finish the darn thing.  I'm happy to say that I was able to present my daughter with her quilt over Easter weekend.  She was happy to receive it and I was happy to finally have it finished!!

Please hop over to Amy's blog and check out all of the other wonderful quilters creations that are participating in the Bloggers' Quilt Festival!

Thank you for visiting!!

That's a beautiful quilt, Linda. I like your other finish too--the one with the pinks in it--the one that's currently missing from your blog. I have a post missing too, so don't feel like you're being singled out! Anyway . . . both are beautiful. Let's hope Blogger is running smoothly again soon.

Lovely quilt. Isn't it wonderful when our children take an interest in our quilting hobby and want us to make them a quilt.

I too have a daughter who hasn't been all that interested in quilting but has since made 2 T-shirt quilts. Guess it happened when she wanted to save all the softball and girls camp T-shirts she has collected over the years.

Your quilt festival quilt is gorgeous and fun to see again.
